| Keith is a mathematics graduate, whose career in education spans almost thirty years. He began teaching mathematics in a secondary school in 1975 and left teaching in 1990 as Head of Faculty for Mathematics, ICT and Business. During that time, he was involved in many complementary activities. |
This included advisory work for the LEA and gaining a national award in 1985 for an industry-related educational project and working as a senior examiner for a national awarding body.
In 1990, Keith became a subject manager for the University of London and Assessment Council (ULEAC) managing the revision of the mathematics specifications, assessment and support. During that time, he became an Ofsted team inspector for Mathematics and ICT and authored over forty textbooks for schools and colleges. Keith has been nominated for several national awards for work he has done in partnership with Channel 4 and Harcourt Education. He has also worked closely with SCAA and QCA on the development of various specifications.
Following the merger of ULEAC with BTEC in 1997, Keith became business development manager for Edexcel with responsibility for the overall management of Science, Mathematics, ICT and D&T qualifications which again placed much emphasis on qualification and assessment development and design. Keith then undertook a new role as e-Learning manager for all qualifications involving the implementation of new technologies on the National Awarding Bodies scene.
In 2004, Keith was appointed Chair of Mathematics for Edexcel Qualifications. Keith has written Edexcel's Data Handling Tool (DHT) software, which is specifically tailored to meet the requirements of GCSE Mathematics Data Handling coursework.
